Currently, LDACS standardization is prepared within the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The ICAO Project Team Terrestrial Data Link (PT-T) has been formed within the Data Communications Infrastructure Working Group (DCIWG) of the ICAO Communications Panel (CP). PT-T is developing all required material for the ICAO standardization process. It is expected that this material – including LDACS SARPs, LDACS Validation Report and LDACS Manual – will be available by end of 2022.

Main results and documents of the current LDACS standardization process (February 2020):

• Kick-off of LDACS standardization at the first meeting (PT-T/1) of the ICAO CP-DCIWG PT-T in December 2016
• Development and finalization of LDACS Draft SARPs in September 2018
• Endorsement of LDACS Draft SARPs through ICAO CP-DCIWG in October 2018
• Development and finalization of the LDACS White Paper in October 2019
